This week, Kenzie discovered how to scream for attention and scream when she wants something. Our ear drums rattle at the high pitch of her screams and you can tell her by her expression, she loves screaming! She smiles her massive toothless smile and hopes you understand what she is screaming about. She screams louder than her cries. We donβt know how she learned it but weβre hoping itβs just a phase.
So far, here is her tally:
Nappy Changes: 45
Sleep: 100 hours
Feeds: 105

Kenzie has got us reading her books over and over and over again. As soon as we finish a book, she wants you to read it to her again. When you put the book down, she picks it up and wants it read to her again. If someone interrupts you while reading the book, she will scream, grab at the pages and demand you continue reading. Sheβs our little bookworm!
As her obsession for feline creatures grows, we attempted to watch The Lion King and as much as she loves seeing the lions on the screen, her attention span only allowed 10 minutes of the movie before she got over it and wanted another activity.
I took Kenzie to the park this week for a swing and she tried the slide for the first time and was holding on for dead life as she slid down. Weβll definitely attempt another go at the slides when sheβs a bit older. Itβs school holidays and there were so many kids around. She loves seeing other kids and I feel that Iβve deprived her of contact with kids her age as we have no attended a play group. Iβve been hesitant to attend a meet up because weβre moving to QLD (at this stage itβs still at an uncertain date) and I fear that mothers would have a competitive nature and I want to stay away from that attitude. Iβve been looking around locally and will definitely try it once next week and see if itβll be beneficial.
When guides say that flash cards should start at around 3 months, I feel that for us, it was too early to start. I have been doing flash cards with Kenzie from when she was 4 months old (I thought I started late) but have only started noticing sheβs paying more attention to it at 8 months and taking more interest in it now. I donβt know if itβs because I exposed it to her early or because she has become such a bookworm. Either way, you can definitely see a massive development leap during Leap 6 as she is now trying to copy sounds and associates words to pictures and videos.
Kenzie has started to try to stand on her own from sitting position. She puts both hands on the floor in front of her and pulls her legs up. However, she is stuck as she looks for support to pull her up to standing position. She hasnβt quite figured out how to balance and can stand for up to 10 seconds at a time before she wobbles and sits back down but… sheβs starting to crawl! She will get onto her tummy, pull up her knees, shimmy forward before rolling over. She still leap frogs onto her face and has started to get scared when she’s on all fours on hard floor but she’s slowly but surely getting there.
Ramon and I were adamant we would want to keep Kenzie away from iDevices but itβs inevitable. At such a young age, Kenzie has understood that you can touch the screen to control certain things but will still put it in her mouth to chew on. She will yell at the tablet, phone or TV when her video stops (due to her touching the screen and pushing all the buttons on remote controls). It’s a new generation and I recently read a study about how it’s important to introduce your kids to technology at an early age.
Kenzie is inching closer and closer to being one year old! Where did the time go? We have started to plan both her birthdays (yes, this lucky girl is having 2 parties) and it’s no easy task as we have a strict budget and it’s across two states. We’re so excited!
