I get so speechless when I realise how old Kenzie is. She is now thirty four weeks and I cannot stop thinking about how quickly time flies. We looked back at videos and photos we had from when she was one week old and she has changed so much! She keeps us on our toes, she makes us learn more about ourselves and she has changed us for the better. Ramon and I look back at how we were raised and what we used to be like as kids and we get embarrassed and ashamed of what we had put our parents through in the past. You learn to appreciate what your parents have done, you realise what they went through and understand why they did and said what they did at the time. One thing is for sure, weβre going to make mistakes but weβre only human. Did this week get any easier? No. You realise it never will. As a parent, your job will never at any easier. You learn to adapt as best as you can and continue learning how to better parent the following day.
So far, here is her tally:
Nappy Changes: 45
Sleep: 94 hours
Feeds: 105

This week started with a visit to church for Palm Sunday where Kenzie was so well behaved! We met up with friends for yum-cha after where Kenzie experienced her first kiss on the lips from Riley and reciprocated with grabbing his face and trying to bite his cheek and pull his hair. Ramon fears weβll have to give her βThe Talkβ earlier than anticipated.
Last week, Kenzie was extremely clingy and this week, she has changed, yet again! She will let anyone hold her! Iβve found that she does need a good nap beforehand and the person needs to have confidence to just hold her without putting their arms out front and giving her the option. Itβs incredible! She was not complaining at all and we find it so amusing how a babyβs personality can change so quickly.
One week, Kenzie didnβt poop for four days which resulted in a doctors visit, this week Kenzie has pooped 3-4 times a day and weβre wondering if that too warrants another doctors visit. We know her gut is getting used to solid foods and the doctor has warned her bowel movements will continue to change for the next 6 months. This week, we experienced a viral-YouTube-worthy poop explosion where Kenzie was covered in poop on her legs, feet, bed and pillows while her nappy miraculously stayed fresh and clean. It blows my mind! We were greatly unprepared but you suck it up, throw away sheets if you must, learn and move on. We were also in hysterics and could not stop laughing!
Weβve taken Kenzie to church throughout Holy Week and she has been so well behaved. It helps a lot that my parents are both there to help with Kenzie whole at mass. She loves to stand on the seat and smiles at other church goers. I canβt help but feel extremely blessed and thankful for such a beautiful girl.
Mackenzie attended her first Royal Easter Show this year. Ramon and I have been attending the Easter Show every year for the past 6 or so years and have made it an annual tradition. We know itβs pricey (tickets cost a whopping $40 per person) but we think itβs totally worth it! We always eat hotdogs while weβre there and have quite a workout with walking non-stop for hours. I still donβt agree spending $8 on one hotdog and wish we saw the $2 toast is stand before we ate but we arrived super hungry which is a big NO-NO when going to the Easter Show. This year we decided to attend in the morning (which is more expensive) however all the animal events are open during this time. We wanted Kenzie to see real cows, real alpacas, real chickens, real horses, real goats and more! At 7 months old, she really didnβt know what was going on, it was a hot 35 degree day, there was a lot of people and she got scared when she came face-to-face with a full grown cow and held onto me for dear life. She was more interested in touching the fence separating us from the animals than she was with the animals themselves. She was too little to participate on the tractor rides, playing Easter egg hunts, joining in on harvesting for fruits, vegetables and honey or ride a pony! We plan on definitely taking her back when she is much older! As for the show bags, we already knew exactly what we were after and how much we were willing to spend and came home with so much lollies and toys for the kids.
I wanted to get Kenzie a balloon as she absolutely loved playing with a balloon when she attended the childrenβs birthday party but she had fallen asleep before we got the chance to find one for her. She was only able to handle the Easter Show for 1.5 hours before she fell asleep. The heat was no joke and I feared Kenzie would get heat rashes again. Luckily it wasnβt too humid but your skin definitely felt the burn when you were in the sun for too long.
Iβm so thankful for the long weekend as I feel that Kenzie has gotten bored of me. Also, itβs been a godsend having people around and helping me with Kenzie. It helps keep me sane, especially during this teething with diarrhoea week.
