With another blink of an eye, Mackenzie is now EIGHT MONTHS OLD! This week, she greeted us with adult smelling poop, given us a week’s worth of laundry in one day and peed all over her dad but as Ramon says, “it’s all part of being parents” and we wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
So far, here is her tally:
Nappy Changes: 49
Sleep: 98 hours
Feeds: 97

This week we are still working a lot on her walking development and she can now shimmy herself along a rail or couch or table or bed by shuffling both her hands and feet from one side to another. I’m in awe with how quickly a child develops! She is so quick in the walker and zooms past us. She knows how to walk backwards and turn around! It’s incredible how quickly she learned how to use it.
I promised I would take her to the pool this week as we didn’t get the chance to go last week. This week, we went twice! She absolutely loves the pool and I love seeing how happy she is when she is splashing about in the water. She finally started to float on her tummy! Oh, our fearsome water baby. She is so excited and kicks her legs in the water like a frog as she swims towards me. She can’t quite float on her own yet and I think we’re still far from that ever happening but there is no denying how much she loves the water.
My mum entered her into a colouring competition at her workplace where there is a $100 prize. We gave Kenzie a few coloured pens and not only did she munch down on every colour, she drew more on her clothes than she did on the paper. It was so cute to watch! While putting the stationery away, Kenzie showed us she was able to pull off lids on boxes! She is such a clever girl.
I have finally cut my hair for the first time since I was 5 months pregnant. It’s been very difficult to find time to do some pampering for myself and as I sit here blogging this week’s post, I’m waiting for my hair to finish being dyed as it approaches midnight and Kenzie is in bed sleeping. I’m currently running off two cups of coffee and the stinging of my eyes thanks to the fumes of the hair dye. When a baby comes into your life, your priorities shift and although people always tell you to look after yourself first, you can’t help but automatically always prioritise your child. Even if that means you are the last to eat and sleep.
I took Kenzie to the doctors this week. I know I said that we would tone down how often we visit the doctors but with the sudden change in her bowel movements from a daily poop to a poop every two days to a poop every day to then no poop for four days, the inconsistency got us worried. But alas, the doctor and his colleague assured us it was all normal. Her gut is just getting used to her eating solid food and to only worry if she goes seven days without a poop. It’s a relief! We have started to hold our breath with each solid nappy change. Wow, it’s intense!
Easter is just around the corner and we are so excited to take Kenzie to Sydney’s Royal Easter Show! We have also planned to take her to Kangaroo Valley as we have been craving their famous homemade cheeseburger pies and sour raspberry jam. So much to do, so little time! Till next week and the new adventures it awaits for us.
