Our beautiful baby Kenzie is now 11 weeks old! Soon we’ll be counting her age in months! Wow how time flies so fast. You’d think that it gets easier but she’s getting louder and it feels like she is starting to figure out a way of getting what she wants out of us. At the moment she’s refusing to be put down and it’s making car rides very difficult. If she is unsettled when the car drives off, we do not have an enjoyable car ride. Not even a dummy can save our car ride. We’ve also had to switch over from a bassinet to a seat on our pram as Kenzie wants to be elevated.
So far, here is her tally:
Nappy Changes: 61
Sleep: 99 hours
Feeds: 70
She’s been quite the explorer lately. We still have relatives from overseas in Sydney so we’ve been taking them out when we can with Kenzie in tow. She absolutely loves being out and sitting on our laps and being held but as soon as she’s back in her pram, she’s irritated in less than 30 seconds. Our carrier is a godsend! We can’t wait till she is able to hold her head up firmly so we can flip her around so she can see the world! On the plus side, she has found a way of soothing herself by suckling on her fist!
It’s official, she no longer fits any of her newborn/0000 size clothes and is now as 000! She is growing so fast and her arms and legs have so many rolls. It’s absolutely adorable! We are going to start her on a daily bath routine as soon as she turns 3 months old. It’s her favourite activity.
We purchased a copy of The Wonder Weeks to be more prepared for future leaps. Leaps 1 and 2 we’re difficult! We are counting our lucky stars that she sleeps a full 8hrs during the night! It’s helped us keep sane. I skim read through parts of Save Our Sleep and I’m so glad we got her into a routine which has helped us so much. We know that not everyone gets the luxury we do and we also know that her habits can change in a heartbeat! So while we can, we’re going to enjoy our unbroken sleep.
We’re currently in Brisbane and Kenzie was an absolute dream during the flight. We were afraid we would be “one of those” parents who had the screaming kids on a plane but she surprised us when she fell asleep at the airport before boarding and continued to sleep throughout the flight. We have a trooper on our hands! All wasn’t so smooth sailing, when we first got to the airport, she managed to finish a large poo explosion while we walked through the security gates and it leaked all over her clothes and carrier. She was going completely ballistic in the parents room and after we had a quick bite to eat, she managed to squeeze in another poo explosion all over a new set of clothes. Luckily the Seed branch at the Qantas terminal stock children’s clothes as I made a mad dash for a clean romper for her to wear. Their staff is so supportive but their prices are so hefty when it’s full price! We’ll definitely turn it into a keepsake for her first flight experience. We’re hoping she’ll be just as settled on our flight home but hey, babies are unpredictable!
She is 3 months old next week and I still look at her and have to pinch myself! It still doesn’t seem real that she’s with us. She makes us smile from ear to ear!
