Mackenzie celebrated her first Christmas in 2017. This year, Ramon’s family who reside in VIC, QLD and SA all flew over to Sydney so we can spend Christmas altogether for Kenzie’s first Christmas and we had an absolute blast! She was so overwhelmed with a full house and was spoiled with so many presents (especially being the first grandchild on both sides of the family). We played games, ate lots of food, played more games, ate more food, played more games and ate more food. Our cheeks hurt so much from laughing and smiling so much and our stomachs were so full, our clothes were bursting at the seams.
Christmas time is such a joyous occasion. Some of our family hadn’t met Kenzie in person yet and it was their first time. They fall in love with her straight away and she had an instant connection with them. They would watch and play with her for hours and hours and we wanted time to stop so we can take it all in as we only had a few days with them.
As Filipinos, we celebrate Noche Buena where on Christmas Eve (December 24), we feast at midnight and open our presents. Unfortunately, Kenzie slept throughout this as she goes to bed between 9-10pm however, she was present for Christmas photos and the games we played while waiting for the time to tick by. This year we played Family Feud, Pokeno and What do you Meme?. They also had a Christmas Onesie Competition where they split into 3 teams and made Kenzie a Christmas Onesie. They were so creative! It was amazing and at times like this, I wish we lived in a Big Brother house that recorded everything so we can replay how much fun we had. It’s not often we are altogether on Ramon’s side of the family as we live in different states but when they are together, you feel so much love and happiness.
On Christmas Day, we had lunch at my parents house and was joined by my siblings and partners. We exchanged presents and had family photos. Kenzie was alert and was grabbing at all the presents she was given. She was ripping apart the wrapping paper (and was more excited over ripping the wrapping paper than than the actual present). She melts hearts and she was so spoiled by each and every one of them. I love how each gift they bought her had a purpose and they studied her personality to tailor the gift to her.
Kenzie enjoyed Christmas so much! It’s such a special time and she has finally met every member of the Sioco-Diamzon family. I don’t know if she will remember her first Christmas but we will remind her how special it was as each and every one made such a big effort to help make her first Christmas the best it could be. 2017 Christmas is going to be hard to beat!
