Kenzie is TWENTY WEEKS! Our beautiful five month old is growing so quickly and our hearts are overflowing with so much happiness and gratitude. There is not one day that goes by where she does not bring a smile to our face. With every squeal, scream, giggle, poop, fart, burp and cry, she manages to warm our hearts.
So far, here is her tally:
Nappy Changes: 44
Sleep: 80 hours
Feeds: 80

Our little one is now starting to reach for items out of her reach. Whether it be food on my plate or in my hand, our phones, hair or toys, she will try to reach for it and bend over as far as she can to get there. She has started to pass items from one hand to another, put it in her mouth and thrown them around. She has become an expert at touching her toes and has started to put them in her mouth.
She has got very strong legs and has started walking tiny steps while assisted. Every day for a few minutes, we do her walking exercises where she will walk assisted from me to Ramon, to her toy, or to Delius (our family dog). We’re doing part baby-lead development so she can guide us where she’d like. This week was all about standing and walking and sitting on her own. I worry she won’t roll front to back but if she wants to stand, she stands, if she wants to walk while assisted, she walks. However, we still do our tummy time and extend the time everyday and even though she tolerates it, it’s her least favourite thing to do. Her head control is amazing but my concern is more for her to learn more upper body strength so she can hold her whooping 7kg self up with her arms, back and shoulders.
Kenzie has finally met all of her uncles and aunties! What an exciting time. She has been so spoiled! She is the first and only grandchild on both sides of the family and she now has anything and everything a little baby can ever dream of! She received play mats, a jumperoo, a jolly jumper, a walker, jewellery, clothes, swimsuits, shoes and the list goes on and on. She is so loved by each and every family member. We’ve already started planning the next time they will see her! Four days go by too quickly!
Christmas was such an amazing time. Kenzie loves being around so much family and although she was overwhelmed at first, she quickly let her guard down and was happily allowing them to hold and entertain her. We were so worried she would be too clingy but she loved being held by her grandparents, aunts and uncles. She was always smiling and this week she found her voice again and would babble on and on. It was also the week we had the most loads of laundry as Kenzie leaked on almost every single one of her outfits. It was definitely record-breaking!
She’s been teething a lot more this week and we’ve found that rubbing ice cubes has helped numb her bottom gums to relieve the discomfort. We knew that teething would be difficult but it’s heartbreaking seeing her trying to self soothe and getting frustrated when it’s not working. We’ve decided to keep Bonjela in our nappy bag along with some paracetamol.
We’re hoping she will start giggling a lot more. We hear her giggle short bursts for a few seconds at a time. It makes us smile so wide our cheeks start to hurt.
Next week Kenzie will be getting baptised and we were so fortunate to have most of the family from all around Australia to be here for her special day.
