Kenzie is THREE MONTHS OLD! Can you believe it? I can’t even imagine what my life would be like without her. She really does complete us.
So far, here is her tally:
Nappy Changes: 60
Sleep: 100 hours
Feeds: 65
I have increased her tummy time duration. It’s her least favourite activity and as much as I tell her it’s to help her exercise and get stronger, she isn’t having any of it! She’s had borderline diarrhoea with a lot of bright green stools. It got us so worried and in the end, we found that I was eating a tad bit too much sugar (I couldn’t help myself! I needed energy drinks and that block of chocolate to give me that energy). I’ve again changed my diet and so far it’s working and we’re seeing a lot more yellow stools and it’s become less frequent and less explosive. It’s so hard making this lifestyle change but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. I just have to make sure I stick with it. My self control is weak at times. It was alarming and Dr Google kept swinging from “green poos are normal” to “green poos can indicate an infection”. We’e been tossing up whether to take her to the GP to be on the safe side but as we are about to book, she surprises us with a row full of yellow poos. I don’t want to be one of those mothers that worry too much but we’ll definitely take her to see a GP if it continues over the next couple of days.
She’s definitely growing and we’ve now put away a box full of newborn/0000 size clothes ready for donation. She has almost tripled her birth weight and she’s helping with our upper body strength with her steady weight gain. Her rolls are forming rolls and it’s so adorable!
Twelve weeks on and we’re still finding parenting a tough gig! Although she sleeps throughout the night, we are so restless checking on her. I’m so scared of SIDS that I’ll Wake up every 2-3 hours at night just to make sure she is breathing and nothing will be obstructing her breathing. This leaves us with a lot of broken sleep but it’s best to be cautious in this case.
We’re back to Sydney this week and we thought she would sleep during the flight as she did on the way to Brisbane. We were wrong! She was awake for most part of the boarding, landing and departing the plane and only managed to squeeze in a couple of 15 minute naps. I was feeding while on the plane and she was settled the whole plane ride until we landed and it was taking forever to depart the plane. She didn’t cry but she did get irate at times and wanted off the plane.
Summer has arrived early and Kenzie breaks out in heat rashes and sweats so much when it gets too hot. Thank goodness for solar panels and air conditioning!
We are eagerly waiting for her to start giggling and laughing. She’s a morning baby and smiles so much when she wakes up. It’s so infectious that we’ve become morning people. We know that the giggle/laugh will come soon and we don’t want to miss it!
Kenzie’s already found her hands and she loves to shove them in her mouth. She loves being talked and she loves to tell you stories with her coos. She also knows what she wants and will kick and scream until she gets it. I feel like we’re about to lose control! She will definitely control us. She’ll become the boss of the house one day.
She loves to be upright and most of the time hates lying on her back when she is wide awake and alert. She is obsessed with her musical mobiles and we really teaching her to reach and grab her toys. We can’t wait till she’s able to walk (I may regret saying this later)!
We’ve discovered that running a tap and dipping her toes in the water helps to calm her down when she is unsettled. It’s the weirdest and cutest thing! She’s our little water baby. We can’t wait till we can take her swimming lessons! Her aunty already bought her a bathing suit.
We’re inching closer to Christmas, where has the time gone?! Week 13 is fast approaching.
